Inquest opened after unknown man's body found on Port Elizabeth highway

Port Elizabeth police have opened an inquest docket for investigation after the body of an unknown black male was found lying on the road early on Friday morning.

According to police information, at about 06:45, a passing motorist noticed the person lying on the M4-Albany Road on ramp and she contacted the police.

"He is in his early 30’s and is suspected to be a vagrant," said police spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu.

Port Elizabeth police investigating cause of man's death

She said that body has no physical injuries.

"Police have opened an inquest docket."

She said that anyone, who may be able to assist in identifying the body is asked to contact SAPS Mount Road on 041 394 6316.
