Veeplaas man shot and killed having supper at home, police appeal for leads

A 26-year-old man was shot and killed by three unknown suspects on Sunday while eating dinner with his girlfriend in their flat in Cambridge Street, Veeplaas, Port Elizabeth.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge, at about 18:00, the deceased and his girlfriend heard a knock on the door, and after the 22-year-old girlfriend opened the door, three unknown suspects entered the flat.

"One of them pulled out a firearm and fired several shots at 26-year-old Akhona Josah while the girlfriend fled out the door in fear," he described.

"After returning a short while later, she found Akhona with several gun shot wounds on his upper body."

Josah passed away on the scene.

"The motive for the murder is unknown still and police are urging any person with information that could assist police with this investigation to contacts Detective Captain Frank van der Berg."
