Leading Port Elizabeth-based law firm, Goldberg & De Villiers Incorporated, is seeking to appoint a secretary in its Corporate and Commercial Law Department.

Goldberg & De Villiers Incorporated specialises in Dispute Resolution, Litigation, Arbitration, Mediation, Corporate and Commercial Law, Labour Law and Property Law.

Job description:  

Essential duties and responsibilities:

-Typing of Commercial legal agreements and documents
-Dictaphone and copy typing of a wide range of contracts/documents (often lengthy with complex layout)
-Retrieving legal texts from electronic databases for inclusion in documents
-Amendments to complex documents, applying track changes
-Opening and preparing client files
-Posting of fees, invoicing and collection of outstanding accounts
-Preparing accounts for clients
-Maintain an efficient and effective departmental administration system
-Work with attorneys/secretaries from different practice areas across the firm
-Scheduling/making necessary arrangements for Director’s and/or client meetings
-Ensure that correct files are drawn for daily diary
-General secretarial duties
-Preparation of power point presentations

Essential qualities:

-Bilingual
-Very good English skills essential
-Excellent knowledge of MS Word and Outlook
-Excellent typing skills
-Experience/knowledge in Ghost Practice will be advantageous
-Well-organised and conscientious
-Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
-Attention to detail
-Good interpersonal skills
-Able to maintain confidentiality
-Honesty, reliability and punctuality
-Ability to multi-task and take initiative
-Ability to work well under pressure
-Stable employment record
-To start as soon as possible
