Shop owner shot in Hankey armed robbery

Police in Hankey are investigating a case of attempted murder and armed business robbery after a 34-year-old local shop-owner was shot on Monday afternoon.

According to police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli, it is alleged that at least one armed man entered the shop in Patensie Road, Hankey, at about 14:00.

The armed suspect shot and injured a 34-year-old shop-owner.

“The owner sustained injuries on his upper body and was rushed to the nearest hospital," Sgt Nkohli said.

“A suspect stole an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the scene on foot. Police are following all leads and the arrest is imminent."
