Couple tied and robbed by gang in their Sardinia Bay home

Port Elizabeth - Mount Road SAPS Cluster Trio Task team members are on the hunt for three suspects, who allegedly robbed a couple during the early hours of Monday morning.

"It is alleged that at about 00:05, the 48-year-old complainant, his wife and relative were busy watching TV at their Sardinia Bay Road home in Sardinia Bay, outside Port Elizabeth, when three suspects entered the house through an open sliding door," said Port Elizabeth police.

"The suspects were armed with knives and a crowbar and demanded money, firearms and cell phones."

Police said that they tied all three up and locked them in the room.

"The suspects ransacked the house and fled with the five televisions, clothing, three wristwatches, laptops, four cell phones, perfumes, various jewellery and cash."

No one sustained injuries during the robbery.

Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of house robbery is currently under investigation.

"Police is appealing to second hand dealers to report any suspicious persons bringing the mentioned items for sale. The investigating, D/W/O Rudolph Baxter may be contacted on 041 581 1496."

Home invasions are a growing worrying trend in South Africa.

At tthe beginning of the month, off-duty Port Elizabeth police officers arrested a man after a group of intruders had entered their residential complex.

Port Elizabeth Detectives also launched a manhunt for three suspects, who broke into a guesthouse in Kingfisher Lane, in Sardinia Bay and robbed a man visiting the area on business.
