Elliotdale police need help solving double homicide involving mother and son

Elliotdale man was killed trying to save his mother from assailant

Elliotdale - Police in Elliotdale are investigating a homicide case that took the lives of a woman and her son early on Easter Monday morning.

"It is alleged that the 21-year-old man was sleeping in his room separated from his mother’s room at their home at Cwebe Village, Elliotdale. It is alleged that on Monday, at about 4am, the son heard his mother crying in her room," described police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

"The son went to the room of his mother and found an unknown man, who stabbing his mother. The son tried to rescue his mother by fighting with the assailant.

"Unfortunately, he was overpowered and was fatally stabbed. The suspect left after having killing the 58-year-old mother as well."

Police vow to bring suspect in Elliotdale homicide to book

Capt Manatha said that the motive behind the murders is not known at this point in time.

"The identities of both deceased are still being withheld as most of their relatives are yet to be informed of their murders," he added.

"Anyone, who can assist the Elliotdale police with information is kindly requested to contact Elliotdale Police @ 047 577 0011 or Crime Stop 08600 10111.

"The information will be treated confidentially."

Butterworth SAPS Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu, condemned the incident.

He vowed that Elliotdale Police detectives will leave no stone unturned as they will work around the clock to bring the suspect to book.
