Ndevana man expected in court for illegal firearm and SAPS property

King Williams Town - In a crime intelligence-driven operation the King Williams Town Flying Squad, K9, Ndevana Police members arrested a suspect on Friday afternoon for illegal firearm possession.

"Police followed up the information they received about a house at eZintenteni, in Ndevana, that had a firearm," said police spokesperson, Captain Siphokazi Mawisa.

"On police arrival, they searched the house and recovered a pistol with seven rounds of ammunition, a police pepper spray and a police emblem star."

She said that a 27-year-old male was immediately arrested and charged for possession of unlicensed firearm (pistol) and ammunition and possession of suspected stolen property.

"The suspect will appear at Zwelitsha Magistrate's Court on Monday."

King William’s Town SAPS Cluster Commander, Brigadier Luntu Ngubelanga, commended the members for the job well done in arresting the suspect and to ensure that he is behind bars.

"He also thanked the community for sharing valuable information with SAPS and encouraged them to report any criminal activities to 08600 10111."
