Robbers traced and arrested after fleeing to the Free State

Aliwal North - Fleeing from the law across provincial lines could not guarantee freedom for four armed robbery suspects, who were traced and arrested in the Free State.

According to police information, the four were arrested for an armed business robbery that occurred in Sterkspruit where a shop owner was pointed with a fiream and a undisclosed amount of money was taken.

"It is alleged on the over the past weekend, on Saturday morning, as the owner of  'J-Weng trading shop', situated at the old taxi rank opened his shop to allow his employees to enter, four suspects entered the shop and point at the owner with fireams and knives," described police spokesperson, Warrant officer, Moitheri Bojabotseha.

"They then ordered the owner to open the till and they took the money.

"Thereafter, they again instructed the shop owner to open the backroom - where the money is kept and they fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money and a Huawei cell phone."

W/O Bojabotseha said that through a multi-disciplinary approach by the two provinces Eastern Cape and Free State the suspects were located and arrested by the SAPS in Petrusburg.

"The Detective Services of Sterkspruit and Crime Investigation went to Petrusburg in the Freestate to fetch the suspects," she described.

"After further investigation it was revealed that the suspects were the ones responsible for the Bussines Robbery in Sterkspruit and they were positively linked."

All four suspects will soon appear in the Sterkspruit District Court to face the law.
