Port Elizabeth - A wanted gang member sought by the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation (Gang Investigation) was arrested on Wednesday afternoon at a house in Voissen Street in Helenvale, Port Elizabeth.

"A warrant of arrest was issued for Dan Nel (23) for the alleged attempted murder of a 27-year-old male in December 2018," said police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu.

"It is alleged that on Tuesday, 25/12/2018 at about 16:40, the complainant was standing outside his house in Reginald Street when the suspect entered the yard and fired one shot towards the victim.

"No injuries were sustained and the suspect fled the scene."

Col Naidu said that on Wednesday, Public Order Policing (PE) members received information about the possible whereabouts of the suspect and found him at a house in Voissen Street.

"He is detained for attempted murder and will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court on Thursday."

She added that the detectives are also probing possible links to other cases currently under investigation.
