Police appeal for leads after brazen daylight shooting in Uitenhage

Uitenhage - The South African Police Service in Kamesh, Uitenhage, is investigating a case of murder and attempted murder, following a shooting in which a 21-year-old male was fatally wounded on Tuesday, at about 12:55.

According to local police, the incident happened at the corners of Acacia Road and Kingfischer Drive, in Rosedale.

"A second male victim (32) was rushed to a local hospital with a gunshot wound in his upper leg," said police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart.

"It is alleged that the two males were talking to a third male, who was seated in his vehicle. It is further alleged that two suspects approached them and started shooting at them.

"Both males, who were standing next to the vehicle, were wounded."

She said that the 21-year-old male was shot in the upper body and passed away on the scene and the other male was wounded in his upper leg.

"The motive for the murder and attempted murder is not known at this stage and is being investigated. The name of the victim will be released after formal identification was completed," Capt Swart added.
