King Williams Town police find cattle carcasses on the veld
King Williams Town - On Tuesday morning, police recovered carcasses on the side of a bridge at Frankfort village outside King Williams Town.
"Out of his vigilance, while going to work, Sergeant Thozama of Steve Vukile Tshwete SAPS noticed pieces of meat just lying in the veld," said police spokesperson, Captain Siphokazi Mawisa.
"He stopped the vehicle and went to investigate what was happening.
"On his arrival, he saw quarters of meat and two dead calves."
Capt Mawisa said that it is now alleged that the three cows were stolen from a nearby village and slaughtered.
"The Sergeant then called other members and some of cattle owners around the village and one community member identified the cattle confirming that they all belong to him."
She said that the suspects are still on the run and Anti-Stock Theft Unit members are still investigating the case.
"SAPS appeal to the community members who have information about Stock Theft or people who were involved in this case to contact Stock Theft Detective Warrant Officer Mzimkhulu Macala on 082 441 9692," said Capt Mawisa.
