Port Elizabeth - A 26-year-old suspect is expected in court after he was arrested just two hours after a shooting incident occurred in Glendenning Street in Shauderville, Port Elizabeth, on Friday.

"It is alleged that on Friday, at about 19:45, the 21-year-old complainant was standing outside the shop in Glendenning Street with his friends when he saw the suspect walking towards him," said police spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu.

"The suspect pointed a firearm towards them and fired several shots in their direction.

"The suspect then fled the scene on foot."

Col Naidu said that the suspect is known to the complainant and at about 22:00, the Anti-Gang Unit members arrested the suspect, who was found sitting in a car nearby.

"He was arrested and detained on a charge of attempted murder and is expected to appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court on Monday."
