Port Elizabeth - The 2018/19 season has been one of the best seasons in some time for the Warriors Team.

"All was left out on the field of play as they transitioned from each tournament, format to format," says Odwa Bata, Media Intern at Eastern Province Cricket.

"The season kicked off with a banger as the team played the CSA 4Day Franchise Series, where the team was in contention until the last two rounds.

"The unfortunate injuries to players Anrich Nortje and Simon Harmer hampered the Warriors in the 2nd half of the competition and thus saw the team finish 3rd in the 4-Day Cup."

Bata said that in the Momentum One Day Cup Competition the Warriors finished 3rd on the log, which assured the team an away semi-final in Durban, where they lost to the Dolphins.

"In the final term of the season came the CSA T20 Competition, The Warriors qualified for the semis by finishing 2nd on the log. The team went on to beat the Cobras but lost to The Lions in the final," he described.

"Despite being just shy of gold, The Warriors team had a sensational 2018/19 season, and with that came the accomplishment of being recognized by the Eastern Cape Sport & Recreation Achievers Awards, for the best Sport Team of The Year.

"Eastern Cape Sport & Recreation Achievers Awards recognized the efforts of the team in all formats throughout the season, and as a result the Warriors were awarded Sports Team of the Year."

Bata said that come 25 September 2019, Warriors Cricket will pay recognition to all deserving players at the Annual Warriors Awards ceremony, for a noteworthy worthy season.

"Lastly, congratulations go out to the following Warriors players for being drafted in the 2019 MZANSI SUPER LEAGUE: Lutho Sipamla (Tshwane Spartans), Sinethemba Qeshile (Jozi Stars), Jon-Jon Smuts (Nelson Mandela Bay Giants), Matthew Breetzke (Nelson Mandela Bay Giants), Onke Nyaku (Nelson Mandela Bay Giants), Marco Marais (Nelson Mandela Bay Giants), Sisanda Magala (Cape Town Blitz) and Anrich Nortje (Cape Town Blitz).  We wish you all the best for the coming MSL T20 2019 Competition."
