Nelson Mandela Bay Ward 55 Councillor passes on following illness

Port Elizabeth - The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape on Thursday said that it is saddened to learn of the untimely passing of Mzuvukile Boti, who passed away  on Thursday morning at Livingstone Hospital in Nelson Mandela Bay after falling sick on Monday.

"Comrade Boti was a Ward Councillor of Ward 55 at Motherwell in Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality," said Gift Ngqondi, ANC Eastern Cape Provincial Head of Communications.

"We convey our collective organizational condolences to the bereaved family of Comrade Mzuvukile Boti.

"Comrade Boti was a committed activist, disciplined and committed to the ANC work, whose service to the revolution was unparalled.

"May his revolutionary soul rest in peace."

Nelson Mandela Bay Executive Mayor, Mongameli Bobani, who also visited the family in Motherwell, shared on Twitter: "I would like to send my heartfelt condolences to the Boti family, we have lost a leader of note to the liberation of our people.

"You have lived a fulfilling life as a people's servant, serving the residents of the Nelson Mandela Bay.

"Lala Ngoxolo Mpondo, Faku, Thahla."

The Mayor added: "On behalf of the City and collective government, our thoughts are with the Boti family at this hard time caused by the painful loss of our fellow Colleague, a selfless servant of the Bay. Siyabulela Mpondo, your contribution to City is not in vain."
