Duo suspected of stealing vehicles busted in Queenstown as accomplices escape

Queenstown - Two suspects are expected in court in Queenstown after they were busted by local police while two vehicles and a trailer were seized.

"Crime Intelligence received information of group of people, who are involved in Trio Crimes and already involved the theft of TLB machinery from work sites," said police spokesperson, Capt Namhla Mdleleni.

"A Task Team was formed involving K9, Flying Squad, Crime Prevention and OCC members.

"Information was followed up on and a vehicle -  a Toyota bakkie with GP registration, was spotted and was chased down."

She said that two suspects, aged between 35 and 40 years, were arrested and three other suspects managed to run away. 

"Two vehicles and a trailer were confiscated and bakkie was positively identified as stolen at Kleinbulhoek," Capt Mdleleni said.

"All suspects were detained and will appear before Queenstown Magistrate's Court soon."

Queenstown SAPS Cluster Commander Major General, Funeka Siganga, commended the members for their dedication and the arrest of the suspects.
