Wanted suspects arrested in raids by Port Elizabeth police detectives

Port Elizabeth - Safer Festive Season Operations by the SAPS are intended to ensure that our communities can enjoy a peaceful and safe holiday period therefore every effort must be made in realising this vision, Port Elizabeth police said.

"On Wednesday evening, from 22:00 until 05:00 on Thursday morning, Detective from all stations in the Mount Road SAPS cluster conducted raids at various houses in search of suspects wanted for various cases," said police spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu.

"A total of thirty five suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from armed robbery, housebreaking, robbery, theft, shoplifting, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and malicious Injury to Property (MITP) and rape."

She said that some of the arrested persons appeared in court for their respective cases in court on Thursday, while others were expected in court on Friday.

"These successes are an indication to the community that the police are serious on turning the tide against crime during this festive season," Col Naidu said.

"The community is encouraged to download the MySAPS App and send tip-offs to the police in a bid to clamp down on any criminal elements within their communities."
