Buffalo City Municipality uses COVID-19 lockdown to disinfect public spaces

East London - The Buffalo City Metro has started with the process of disinfecting its public areas and cleaning its streets.

Executive Mayor Councillor Xola Pakati, who has set aside his Fridays to roll out his sleeves, led one of the three Citywide campaigns in East London on Friday morning.

"As part of mitigating the Covid 19 virus, the City has identified a list of public areas that have huge traffic volumes of people, which carry the risk of spreading the virus," the Buffalo City Metro said.

In East London, the Municipality sprayed and cleaned ebuhlanty, Gilwell Mall, Border taxi ranks and the CBD.

"Meanwhile teams are also out in full force at the Mdantsane taxi ranks, Cambridge cemetry and Bhisho."

The Municipality is taking advantage of the lockdown by intensifying its effort towards grass cutting, gutter clearing, weed picking, illegal dumps clearing, bush clearing.
