270 mandrax, firearm, liquor seized in Mdantsane raid, two arrested

Three suspects were arrested after 270 mandrax tablets, a Norinco pistol, six live rounds, 75.82 litres of liquor were seized during a police operation in Mdantsane, East London, on Monday.

"Mdantsane OCC, Detectives and Crime Intelligence officers raided a house in NU3," described police spokesperson, Captain Nkosikho Mzuku.

"They allegedly found two hundred and seventy mandrax tablets and the two small plastic bags of tik, weighing 82,7g and arrested the suspect.

"They proceeded to another house in NU7 and arrested a suspect for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition."

Wanted suspect also arrested by Mdantsane police

Capt Mzuku said that police closed down an illegal shebeen, seized 75.82 litres of liquor in NU1 and the owner was issued with a R2 500 fine for selling liquor without a liquor license.

"Police also closed down the net on a most wanted robbery suspect at Highway shopping centre," he added.

"The suspects are expected to be charged with dealing in drugs, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, selling liquor without liquor license and numerous counts of robberies when they appear in the Mdantsane Magistrate's Court soon."
