30 suspects nabbed during Operation Tropical Storm in Mdantsane over the weekend

Suspects arrested for various crimes in Mdantsane, East London

East London - Police in the Mdantsane Cluster, in East London, over the weekend arrested 30 suspects for various crimes during the SAPS' Operation Tropical Storm, which targeted the Mdantsane area.

"These suspects were nabbed for crimes like, drunken driving, sexual violence, dealing in drugs, house robbery, homicide, house-breaking and theft, contravening of protection order, theft, malicious damage to property, theft of motor vehicle, possession of suspected stolen goods, shoplifting to mention but a few," described police spokesperson, Captain Nkosikho Mzuku.

"Six of these suspects were arrested for drunken driving in and around the Mdantsane Cluster.

"These areas includes, Mdantsane, Vulindlela, Inyibiba, Cambridge, Berlin, Macleantown, Bluewater, Mooiplaas, Keimouth and Komga."

Mdantsane police confiscated various dangerous weapons

Capt Mzuku said that dangerous weapons, including knives and pangas were confiscated during stop and search operations.

"This was aimed at preventing unnecessary murders."

He added that the ages of the suspects range between 20 and 48 years old.

"These suspects are due to appear in different Magistrate's Courts around the Buffalo City, for various charges soon."
