30-year-old Kwazakele man shot and left to die in his home

Police urge anyone with information that may lead to arrest of three suspects that shot and killed a 30-year-old Kwazakele man

Police in Port Elizabeth are investigating a case of murder after a 30-year-old man was shot and killed in his home, in Mbilini Road, Kwazakele, Port Elizabeth, on Wednesday night.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge, Sinethemba Payi was shot three times by unknown suspects, who knocked on his front door and called him to open the door.

He said that the shooting happened at about 21:30.

The suspects ran away on foot after the shooting.

"His 25-year-old girlfriend found him at the front door and he passed away on the scene," Capt Beetge said.

"Nothing was stolen by the suspects during the incident."

Port Elizabeth police are now urging anyone with information that could assist police with this investigation can contact Lt Colonel Willie Mayi at 082 697 5914.

Casse of people shot in their homes on the rise

The case is among many that have made headlines recently where people have been shot and killed in their homes.

In February, a 35-year-old man was gunned down in his home while his seven-year-old daughter was wounded.

A 42-year-old man was shot and killed the same month also at his home.

In January, two men were arrested for shooting dead a teen at his home in Walmer.
