44-year-old Butterworth man arrested for raping 29-year-old woman
Butterworth police arrested a 44-year-old man for alleged sexual assault of a 29-year-old woman.
"It is alleged that both victim and the suspect are ex-lovers. The alleged sexual assault was committed on Thursday, at about 20:20, at about 20:20 at Mazizini Locality, Cegcuwana Village, Butterworth," described police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.
"Butterworth Police acted very swiftly after the case was opened as they traced and arrested the suspect. The suspect will be charged very soon and will appear before the Butterworth Magistrate's Court on Monday on a charge of sexual assault."
Butterworth SAPS Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu, condemned the violence and sexual assault of the victim.
He praised the Butterworth police for their swift action in tracing and arresting the suspect expeditiously.
