6th Sedgefield Beach Festival a success

On 22 December 2017, the Knysna Tourism Sedgefield office, along with Sotheby’s Sedgefield office and Misfit Training and Events, hosted their 6th Sedgefield Beach Festival that proved to once again grow bigger and better than the previous year’s especially when it comes to the raising of funds towards their local charity, the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI).

Representing NSRI Wilderness, Volunteer Warren Page commented; “Thank you to the Awesome Sedgefield Beach Festival team, NSRI Wilderness are really appreciative in what this team does and are very grateful, our sincere thanks”.

Knysna Tourism has thanked all entrants for the Slow Fun Run, hosted by MisFit events, The Sotheby’s sand castle building competition, Sotheby’s Treasure Hunt entries as well as the generous sponsorships of Accommodation, activities, vouchers and all the prizes, an amount of just under R4000,00 was raised for NSRI Wilderness which was almost double the amount raised in 2016.

"The day started with a well-attended Misfit Slow Beach Fun Run. The event saw 60+ participants enjoying the scenery that Myoli Beach has to offer on an early December morning. Other Beautiful Scenery the runners got to enjoy was that of our very own local, George born, WWE wrestler, Justin Gabriel, visiting from Florida, who opened the event and alongside him Mr South Africa, Habib Noorbhai, who were both judges for the Sand castle competition," described Belinda Hobson, Manager: Knysna Tourism Sedgefield.

"Twizza Soft Drinks a proudly South African Product added some flavour and Beat to the event.

"Not only did folk enjoy some fun along some of the highest fossilised dunes in the world, but they were entertained by great local talent and had the opportunity to build a sand castle, join in the egg toss and the kids got to dig in the sand for the Sotheby’s treasures."

Hobson added that great prizes from so many generous sponsors were on offer depicting the theme for 2017 'Christmastime and festive fun and giving'.

"15 masterpieces were built on Myoli Beach comprising of Santa, Christmas Trees, Reindeer, The winning Christmas conveyer belt along with presents and even a Christmas wishing R2-D2."

No one walked away empty handed as additional prizes, giveaways and lucky draws were sponsored by Sotheby’s Sedgefield, Twizza, Fidelity adt,  Van Tonder Inc Attorneys & Conveyancers, Sedge Links, Hospitality & Home, John Cave, Zani’s Cut & Curl, Fijnbosch Coffee Shop, Pili Pili, Knysna Tourism, Monkeyland,  Birds of Eden , Jukani, Eden Adventures, Cycleworx, Mrs Min, Lloyds Maintenance, Wimpy Sedgefield, Bluebottle Bottlestore, Herbalife, Misfit, Garden Route National Parks, Pick n Pay Sedgefield, The Knysna Elephant Park.

"Be sure to note this festival on your to-do list for the 2018 December holiday – when the Knysna Tourism office Sedgefield Office, Sotheby’s Sedgefield and Mis-Fit training and events will once again plan the 7th annual Sedgefield Beach Festival," Hobson said.
