82 nabbed in Humansdorp police operations in the past week

Police arrested 82 suspects during operations held last week in the nine police stations that make up the Humansdorp cluster.

"Operations included normal police patrols, vehicle check - points and suspects raids," described police spokesperson, Sgt Majola Nkohli. 

"Suspects were arrested for crime ps ranging from murder to house robbery with other crimes such as assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm topping the list with fifteen suspects nabbed.

"In one of the breakthroughs for the week, a man was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and 13 rounds of ammunition after a resident informed the police about a man carrying a bag with a firearm in Humansdorp last week (Tuesday)."

He said that the same man was linked to a case of house robbery and that led to the subsequent arrest of a second suspect. 

"Three motorists were nabbed for drunk driving; and eight suspects for possession of dagga and police confiscated 835 grams of dagga valued over R 2 500. Five traffic fines were issued for several traffic offences valued R 2 300. Eighteen people were arrested for menial crimes such as drinking in public."

He said that police are urging anyone with information about illegal firearms to share it with the police.
