Acquisition creates stronger cleaning company: Khanya Cleaning Group acquires Khangela Hygiene

Port Elizabeth-based Khanya Cleaning Group is a respected professional service provider in the cleaning industry, specialising in contractual and once-off maintenance and deep cleaning, as well as managing a range of associated services.

Marius Olivier started Khanya in August 2004 after being employed in the cleaning industry for seven years as regional manager for a leading national cleaning company.

During this time he established close relationships and gained valuable experience with both local and national clients. Khanya grew from humble beginnings in 2004 to a company employing approximately 400 people in 2014.

“Towards the end of 2014, Khanya started negotiations with another local cleaning service provider, Khangela Hygiene and Industrial Services,” says Marius.

“In 2015, the negotiations culminated in Khanya acquiring the operational assets including the contracts, staff and equipment of Khangela, making Khanya one of the largest privately owned cleaning companies in the region.”

Veronica Kweyi, the previous Managing Director of Khangela, has since joined Khanya as a shareholder and director.

“We welcome Veronica and her staff from Khangela into the Khanya family, and look forward to many successful years together,” said Marius at the conclusion of the acquisition.

As part of the merger, the Khanya Cleaning Group has also moved their offices to 77 Second Avenue in Newton Park, Port Elizabeth.

“Due to growth and the recent buy-out of Khangela Hygiene and Industrial Services, we needed to move into bigger premises,” Marius added.

While their fax number has changed to 041 363 0590, the telephone number is still 041 484 3773.

The Khanya Cleaning Group’s success seems inherent as they were also awarded the cleaning services contract at the new Baywest Mall in Port Elizabeth, earlier this year.

Marius says that, “BBBEE is becoming increasingly more important and Khanya offers real benefits to all our current and prospective clients through our combined years of experience in the cleaning industry, and our commitment to delivering a professional yet personalised service.

“Our level 1 BEE status and black female ownership also makes us a preferred supplier in terms of current procurement requirements.”

He adds, “Khanya Cleaning Group would like to thank all our clients, suppliers and staff for the continued support and dedication over the last 11 years, which has allowed us to keep on growing.”
