A 27-year-old Port Elizabeth man is expected in court soon after he was arrested on Thursday morning for drunk driving.

According to Motherwell police spokesperson, Constable Mcedi Mbombo, at about 06:50, Colonel A.B Leander, who is the Rapid Railway Station Commander at Swartkops, was on her way to work when she made the arrest.

"It is alleged that Colonel Leander was on her way to work, driving her private vehicle.

"She was driving behind a yellow Citi Gof and she noticed a back passanger giving the driver a bottle of beer to drink," said Constable Mbombo.

"Col Leander pulled off the vehicle at Old Grahamstown Road, next to Truck stop.

"The driver was smelling liquor - like a Tavern. There were three males and one female inside the Golf," he said.

"There were also many empty bottles of beer and four bottles still full of beer."

The driver was arrested and he will appear in court soon.
