Alert Port Alfred police officer arrests drunk driver just after busting housebreaking suspect
A 26-year-old man is in custody after he was arrested by the Port Alfred K9 Unit for burglary at a local business on Friday morning.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender, Warrant Officer, Tertius Neethling, attended a housebreaking in progress at "Die Stoom pot" coffee shop.
"He was around the corner attending an alarm at the time," she described.
"He followed the tracks from the scene with his patrol dog and apprehended one suspect in the bush with the stolen property.
A 26-year-old male was arrested and a cash register with R400 cash; one Dixon Amplifier; and one Dixon Combo mixer were recovered. The value of the recovered items is over R2 000.
"Whilst travelling with the suspect, the member arrested a 32-year-old for Drunken Driving and Reckless/Negligent driving on Port Alfred," said Captain Govender.
