Alert resident assists Uitenhage police in recovering vehicle just after house robbery

An alert resident helped in the recovery of a vehicle stolen during a house robbery incident in KwaNobuhle, Uitenhage, over the weekend.

According to police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli, on Sunday, at around 15:30, it is alleged that two men, one with a firearm stormed into a house in Mnamatha Street, KwaNobuhle.

"Inside a house, a 36-year-old man was held at gunpoint and the suspects demanded vehicle keys.

"The suspects stole a victim's cellphone before fleeing with a leased red VW Cross Polo," described Sgt Nkohli.

"Minutes later, an alert resident spotted a vehicle being stripped of wheels in Myathaza Street, KwaNobuhle, and contacted the police.

"The suspects managed to flee the scene, but a vehicle was recovered."

Police were following all the leads in an effort to arrest the suspects.
