Aliwal North - A woman is expected in court on Monday after she was arrested by Aliwal North Detectives for the alleged murder of her 33-year-old husband over the weekend at Saamwerk Farm.

"It is alleged that on Friday, the couple came back from town after an afternoon of shopping, when later in the evening an alcohol induced argument erupted and the 33-year-old man struck the suspect with a knobkerrie on the head while she was cooking," said police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Moitheri Bojabotseha.

"It is then alleged that the suspect retaliated to the assualt by throwing a bottle of Mayonnaise at the husband. A shard of glass from the bottle cut through the deceased upper right arm, leaving him bleeding profusely."

Warrant Officer Bojabotseha said that Medical Emergency Services were called, however, the man refused medical assistance.

"The couple then continued with their evening of drinking alcohol and then went to sleep," she described.

"The woman alleged that she then discovered that her husband was dead on Saturday morning, at 05:00.

"The Detectives are still investigating the case."

Warrant Officer Bojabotseha said that the suspect will make a court appearance on Monday.
