ANC looking to engage parents and stakeholders during school visits
The African National Congress (ANC) Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature Caucus says it is looking to engage stakeholders during school visits that kick off on Wednesday.
Its party members are among a delegation of Members of Provincial Legislature, who will be conducting a series of school visits from the 11th to the 20th of January 2017 in all districts across the province.
"These visits are aimed at ensuring readiness of schools for the 2017 academic year, and will evaluate preparedness based on the timeous delivery of the correct learning and teaching material; adequate provisions for the administration of the school nutrition programme; as well as the availability and preparedness of educators," said ANC Chief Whip in the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature: Honourable Mzoleli Mrara.
"Where there are areas of inadequate preparation, the Department of Education is to make swift interventions.
"These engagements serve as a mechanism for early detection of potential issues that could have an effect on the performance of our schools during the year, as well as issues that affect the basic education system from foundation to secondary phase.
"The ANC Caucus therefore wishes to encourage parents and communities to be part of these meetings, and to continue to play an active role in the education of learners beyond these visits."
