Another rural school torched, property worth more than R95 000 destroyed

Centane police are investigating a case of arson after Ncedisizwe Senior Secondary School at Cebe Village, Centane, was found burnt.

This latest incident follows after another school was burnt in the Libode area on Wednesday night.

"It is alleged that the school was burnt between Thursday night and Friday morning," said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha

"The management of the school left everything in order on Thursday.

"Four classrooms were left open as some learners were having afternoon studies."

According to Capt Manatha, the principal of the school was alerted telephonically during the early hours of Friday that the school was on fire.

"Information technology machines and school furniture to the value of R95 000 was burnt. Two offices were also burnt."

He added that no suspect/s has been arrested yet.
