Appeal for leads after Uitenhage man shot while driving down a street

Uitehnhage - The South African Police Service in Kamesh, Uitenhage, are investigating a case of attempted murder after a 23-year-old man was shot and wounded in the upper-body at 18:30 on Saturday.

"Police were summoned to the scene in Puffin Street, Kamesh, after two armed suspects allegedly shot at the 23-year-old driver as he was travelling in Puffin Street," said police sokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart.

"The victim had multiple gunshot wounds in the upperbody and was taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
           
"The suspects fled allegedly from the scene in an unknown blue vehicle.

"The motive for the attempted murder is not known at this stage and the case is being investigated."

Acting Uitenhage SAPS Cluster Commander, Brig Ronald Koll, has condemned the shooting incident and has instructed that the perpetrator/s must be brought to book.
