Argentina beat Germany in an international friendly

Argentina played in an international friendly against World Champions Germany in Duesseldorf on Wednesday for a repeat of the World Cup finals, and won the game 4-2.

Manchester United’s record signing, Angel Di Maria scored once and helped Sergio Aguero, Erik Lamela and Federico Fernandez each score a goal, which lead to the teams first victory since the World Cup game in Rio de Janeiro, against Germany.

Andre Schuerrle and Mario Goetze each scored a goal for Germany, it was however not enough to win the game.

Germany became the football world champions for the fourth time on July 13th, playing in the final game against Argentina.

This was Gerardo Martino’s first game as the boss of the South Americans and he said that the game should not cause hype, as three players from Germany had retired since the World Cup.

Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker, record goal scorer Miroslav Klose and World Cup-winning captain Philipp Lahm had retired from international football after Germany's success in Brazil.

"They were missing a lot of players and also had three players who retired," said Martino.

"That's not easy to try to find a new team. Di Maria was more prominent than he was in the World Cup."

Argentina forward, Lionel Messi had to miss the friendly against Germany due to a muscle injury in his right hamstring which he sustained in a game last weekend.
