Armed robbers storm Uitenhage shop, flee with cash and valuables

Police in Uitenhage are investigating a business robbery case after three armed men hit a retail store in Uitenhage on Friday.

"At around 4:30pm, it is alleged that three men armed with firearms stormed into a retail store in Caledon Street, Uitenhage," said police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli.

"Suspects allegedly threatened everyone that was at the store and forced them move to the back of the store."

He said that the suspects stole cellphones, jewellery, cash and some clothing items before fleeing the scene.

Police need help solving robbery at Uitenhage shop 

"At this stage, it is unknown whether suspects used a getaway vehicle during the incident," Capt Nkohli said.

"The suspects are still at large, and no person was injured during the incident.

"Police are urging anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Wouter Verwey at 084 846 2273 or to share information via Crime Stop 08600 10111."
