Arrest after Ngcobo man shot and killed while walking with girlfriend

Just three days after a 26-year-old man, Sanelisiwe Ngqulu, was shot and killed in the presence of his girlfriend whilst they were on their way to a local General dealer store in the Masonwabe village, near Ngcobo, a suspect has been arrested.

"It is alleged that on Monday, Ngqulu and his girlfriend, were approached by two suspects, who shot the deceased," said police spokesperson, Captain Namhla Mdleleni.

"He died on the scene.

"The motive for the killing is unknown and under investigation."

She said that a case of murder was opened and on Thursday, during the joint operation, a 26-year-old male was arrested at Masonwabe village.

"An unlicensed firearm and ammunition was seized on the man," Capt Mdleleni added.

"The suspect faces a charge of murder and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

"He will appear in the Ngcobo Magistrate's Court soon."
