Arrest in case where man was gunned down at a Zwelitsha park

A 32-year-old man was arrested by King Williams Town police for murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm at Zone 3, Zwelitsha.

"Police after receiving an information about an unknown body at Zwelitsha Park, on 20th February 2019 managed to arrest one suspect," described police spokesperson, Captain Siphokazi Mawisa.

"This comes after police were alerted by the community about a male that was allegedly shot to death at the park.

"Police investigated a case of murder and thorough investigation led them to a suspect’s house."

She said that police also recovered a Norinco firearm with no serial number that was hidden in an old vehicle.

Murder suspect expected in Zwelitsha court

"The suspect will be appearing at the Zwelitsha Magistrate's Court on Thursday."

King Williams Town Cluster Commander, Brigadier Luntu Ngubelanga, commended the members for their fantabulous work in investigating these barbarous crimes.

“We will not tolerate such behavior in our communities hence we ensure that those who break the law are arrested” said Brigadier Ngubelanga.
