Atlas reports 35 burglaries over the last week in Port Elizabeth

Reporting on statistics in Port Elizabeth over the last week and a half, Atlas Security announced that 35 break-in incidents were reported to them, 29 of which were successful burglaries, three attempted burglaries, two armed robberies and one house robbery.

Atlas pointed out that Sidwell and the Cape Road residential/urban erven were the city’s hotspots with more than one reported incident occurring along those areas.

“54% of the total incidents took place in residential areas and five of our successful burglaries had no loss on site,” Atlas said on their website.

“From the month-begin to date, 13 arrests were made, of which nine were made by our Armed Response Officers. We would like to thank SAPS, K9 unit and the Metro for their assistance.”

In the same statement, Atlas also stated that most of the reported incidents occurred on a Sunday morning between 05:00 – 06:00.

The highest trending items burgled were reported to be Plasma TV’s, safes and firearms, with bathroom windows and main bedroom windows being their main access points to such break-ins.

“We have also picked up on quite a few DPS areas being targeted this past month – we assure you that we are increasing visibility in conjunction with the SAPS,” Atlas expressed.
