Bargain Buys helps to make it a special weekend for women at Open Heaven Church

This past weekend, the Open Heaven Church, which fellowships in Cotswold Extension, Port Elizabeth, held a successful Bollywood themed women's event.

Speaking to RNEWS, Prophet Lee Johns Brown, who is a Senior Minister at the church with her husband, Marlon Brown, described how they are passionate about the Gospel and helping others.

"We are totally sold out of Christ," she said.

Lee has also been working for the South African Police Service for the past 15 years.

According to her, she organises the event annually with her husband where they pamper and appreciate the role the women in their church play in the church and in the community.

This year, they went for an exciting Bollywood theme.

"Everybody was very excited to dress up in their Sarees and their bling, it was just a day full of joy and the weather was perfect,” she described.

“Nobody can stop talking about this event, my Facebook is exploding.”

Lunch was served

Besides gift bags, the attendants were treated to a delectable lunch that included cake and Cappuccino.

“Only the best for my ladies,” Lee cheerfully said.

According to Lee, the event was mainly sponsored by their “sons and daughters”.

“The event was sponsored by our very own sons and daughters in the church and me, as the first Lady of the house, I was totally blown away by the decor, the singers and dancers, everything was amazing.”

She said that 200 ladies attended the event – although they had catered for 150.

“[However], God showed his abundance and everything was enough for everybody.”

Still it was not just about food and glamour, while many wish and pray for things that will benefit them, Lee’s wish list is to gather a thousand bags for young women, which will contain face wash, sanitary towels, moisturizer, shampoos, makeup and tissues.

“That's all that I desire and I believe that, with God, we will be able to do it,” she said.

Bargain Buys sponsorship

Port Elizabeth-based Bargain Buys, the well-known online discount store, also made the event more special with a donation of a R500 voucher, which was won by Tanique Muller.

“I'd like to thank Bargain Buys as they donated a voucher of R500, which was won by the young lady, who had just passed her Matric exams; it was a well-deserved gift for her,” Lee said.

“All that has been done by Bargain Buys is not taken lightly and we pray a special blessing over the company.”
