Bay recognised as a business destination of choice at Meetings Africa 2016

Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism (NMBT) hosted a pre tour consisting of 14 African Buyers from the 19- 20 February 2016 prior to attending the Meetings Africa Exhibition at Sandton Exhibition Centre, Johannesburg from the 23-24th February.

Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism Chief Executive Officer, Ms Mandlakazi Skefile emphasized, “It is so important and beneficial for Nelson Mandela Bay to participate in meetings industry events of this nature as the business events industry is able to contribute greatly to the economic development of a destination. In order for the destination to be on the forefront to gain business events we need to keep abreast of valuable insights of global best practices and trends.”

Meetings Africa is a business tourism marketing platform which aims to expose local and international buyers to Nelson Mandela Bay as an incentive and conferencing destination. The exhibition provides a platform to showcase Nelson Mandela Bay as a destination of choice to services and brands, to senior decision-makers as well as buyers and influencers that includes over 650 highly qualified hosted buyers.

In recent years, Nelson Mandela Bay has become a sought after destination for business travel and events. Through collaboration with South African Tourism’s National Convention Bureau, NMBT was able to host a Meetings Africa Pre Tours to showcase the destinations world class venues and facilities.

Through hosting the 14 African buyers the visitors were able to explore the destination firsthand as well as the venues available that are capable of hosting their events. Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism further facilitated the introduction of the buyers to conference facilitators and organizers in order to turn the visit into future business bookings.
