A 23-year-old suspected gangster is expected to appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court on Tuesday following a weekend shooting that left a member of a rival gang dead.

"It is alleged that on Sunday, at about 06:00, Shaun Rensburg (39) exited the front door of a house in Waxberry Drive, Ext 33, Bethelsdorp," Port Elizabeth police said.

"Two suspects approached him and started shooting at him. Rensburg collapsed and died in an alley next to the house.

"He is affiliated to the Good fellas gang."

Follow up investigations by the Provincial Gang Investigation Unit resulted in the arrest of a 23-year-old suspect in Barberry Drive Bethelsdorp.

"The suspect was arrested at his house.

"He will appear in court on Tuesday, 24 January 2017 on a charge of murder," police said.
