Bloemendal man arrested for fatal stabbing during street argument

Members of SAPS Bethelsdorp arrested a 35-year-old man on Monday morning for the alleged murder of Elrico Titus (44) from Bloemendal, Port Elizabeth.

"It is alleged that on Sunday, at about 18:30, Titus, of Lodewyk Street Bloemendal, was involved in an argument with the suspect," described police spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu.

"The argument turned physical and Titus’s brother then took him home.

"Titus later went down the street again and approached the suspect."

She said that Titus was stabbed in the back and was taken home.

"He died in his yard at home as the suspect ran away. Reason for the argument is yet to be established."

At about 07:00, on Monday morning, Bethelsdorp members received information that the suspect was at his Lodewyk Street home.

"He was arrested and detained and is expected to appear in court soon on a charge of murder."
