Bobani hit back at Ramaphosa comment that Bay coalition is not working
Mongameli Bobani is leading an ANC-dominated coalition that is running the Nelson Mandela Bay
Port Elizabeth - Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Executive Mayor, Mongameli Bobani, on Monday hit back at comments made by President Cyril Ramaphosa, during his campaigning in Port Elizabeth over the weekend, that the current coalition running the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is not working.
Bobani, who is from the United Democratic Movement (UDM), is leading a coalition dominated by Ramaphosa's African National Congress (ANC).
However, over the weekend, Ramaphosa said that the coalition is not working and not deliverying on services.
Ramaphosa noted that; "We are locked in a coalition that is not working. The coalition government is not working.
"You know why? Because coalition governments never really work well. You only need one key political party that will run the affairs of government.
"We have to get to a point where we have one boss. And in our case the boss is the ANC!
"When we come to the next local government, we must make sure that we vote the ANC back here in Nelson Mandela Bay."

"We have noted the statements made by both President of the ANC and EC Chairman of the ANC that the Coalition in NMBay is not working," said Bobani on his Twitter.
"We are not sure on what basis are their statements, we have not yet received a formal correspondence seeking information on our performance."
He invited the President to come back to the Bay for a formal briefing on progress made by the coalition since it took office last yera August after booting out the then Dwemocratic Alliance (DA) -led coalition government that had been running the Bay since 2016 Local Government Elections.
"Through the Executive Mayor's office, on request we are prepared to furnish both offices with our performance report, which will factually indicate what we have achieved in the short period," Bobani said.
"We have also introduced something that has never existed, Creating a City with a Heart."
Bobani added that his administration "is proud to state it without fear of contradiction that we are also working close with the National Treasury to make sure that we comply with regulations in relation to tax/rate payers money.
"Even the latest allocations will be spent within the confines of the law."
We offer an opportunity for both the President and MEC in their capacities within government to visit the Coalition government for a thorough brief on our performance and work that we have done to uplift the poor of the poorest.
