Border, EP and SWD results and stats for CSA U17 Cricket Week

The Cricket South Africa Under-17s Cricket Week was held in the Benoni, Kempton Park and Boksburg regions over the middle of December and each side played games in all three formats, namely: T20, 50-over and one-day matches.   

Cricket South Africa Under-17s Cricket Week day one (Sunday, 11th December) results and stats:

Eastern Province U17 vs Free State U17 in a one-day match at Christian Brothers College, Boksburg – FS U17 batted first and scored 110 all out, followed by EP U17 who scored 154 all out. In their second innings FS scored 65/1. Match drawn (EP won on first innings). Top EP batsmen: Peter Jarvis (49) and David Rushmere (27). Top EP bowlers: 1st innings- James Quarmby (5/39) and Peter Jarvis (2/7), 2nd innings- Neo Pepeta (1/11).

Border U17 vs Easterns U17 in a one-day match at Willowmoore Park, Benoni – Border U17 batted first and scored 232/8 dec. followed by Easterns U17 who scored 238/6. Match drawn (Easterns won on first innings). Top Border batsmen: Akhanya Rebe (84), Mathew Ferrant (41) and Keith Krautz (29). Top Border bowlers: Luvo Ntsekwa (2/36) and Bradley Mauer (2/49).

South Western Districts U17 vs Zimbabwe U17 in a one-day match at Willowmoore Park, Benoni – Zimbabwe U17 batted and scored 163 all out, followed by SWD U17 who scored 142 all out. In their second innings Zimbabwe scored 47/3. Match Drawn (Zimbabwe won on first innings). Top SWD batsmen: Curnol Thorne (44), Brian Jack (29*) and Francois Barnard (26). Top SWD bowlers: Shaun Wagner (2/18), Xavier Tekana (2/27) and Sintu Majeza (2/29).

Day two (Monday, 12th December) results and stats:

Eastern Province U17 vs North West U17 in a one-day match at Avion Park Cricket Club, Kempton Park – NW U17 batted first and scored 80 all out, followed by EP U17 who scored 163/3 dec. In their second innings NW scored 105/3. Match drawn (EP won on first innings). Top EP batsmen: David Rushmere (67) and Peter Jarvis (59*). Top EP bowlers: 1st innings- Keeran Forbes (3/17), Lelethu Cekiso (2/8) and Alexander Draai (2/8).

South Western Districts U17 vs Northerns U17 in a one-day match at St. Dunstans College Ground, Benoni – Northerns U17 batted first and scored 284/6 dec. followed by SWD U17 who scored 140 all out. In their second innings Northerns scored 6/0. Match drawn (Northerns won on first innings). Top SWD batsmen: Travis Ackerman (44) and Migael Vermeulen (31). Top SWD bowlers: Sintu Majeza (3/52).

Border U17 vs Zimbabwe U17 in a one-day match at Willowmoore Park, Benoni – Zimbabwe U17 batted first and scored 289/6 dec. followed by Border U17 who scored 199/7 dec. Match drawn (Zimbabwe won on first innings). Top Border batsmen: Mathew Ferrant (79) and Ty Maclean (49). Top Border bowlers: Akhanya Rebe (2/20) and Thando Ntini (2/58).

 Day three (Tuesday, 13th December) results and stats:

Eastern Province U17 vs Boland U17 in a T20 fixture at Willowmoore Park, Benoni– Boland U17 batted first and scored 190/3, Boland won by one run (EP U17 scored 189/6). Top EP batsmen: David Rushmere (71) and Keeran Forbes (70*). Top EP bowlers: Peter Jarvis (1/28) and James Quarmby (1/31).

South Western Districts U17 vs Gauteng U17 in a T20 fixture at Benoni Northerns Field – SWD U17 batted first and scored 83 all out, Gauteng U17 (84/4) won by six wickets. Top SWD batsmen: Travis Ackerman (15) and Brian Jack (13). Top SWD bowlers: Sintu Majeza (2/12).

Limpopo U17 vs Border U17 in a T20 fixture at Christian Brothers College, Benoni – Limpopo U17 batted first and scored 113/8, Border U17 (114/9) won by one wicket. Top Border batsmen: Matt Dewar (26) and Ty Maclean (24). Top Border bowlers: Sebastian Denison-Brown (4/16).

Eastern Province U17 vs Western Province U17 in a T20 fixture at Willowmoore Park, Benoni – WP U17 batted first and scored 209/5, WP won by 115 runs (EP U17 scored 94 all out). Top EP batsmen: Keeran Forbes (18), Rodwill Baatjies (16) and Tristan Stubbs (16). Top EP bowlers: Keeran Forbes (2/26) and Alexander Draai (2/33).

South Western Districts U17 vs Northern Cape U17 in a T20 fixture at Benoni Northerns Field – SWD U17 batted first and scored 107/6, SWD won by 14 runs (NC U17 scored 93/7). Top SWD batsmen: Odin le Roux (30*) and Francois Barnard (25). Top SWD bowlers: Travis Ackerman (2/9).

Border U17 vs Northerns U17 in a T20 fixture at Christian Brothers College, Boksburg – Border U17 batted first and scored 92/8, Northerns (93/0) won by 10 wickets. Top Border batsmen: Akhanya Rebe (27) and Mathew Ferrant (19).

Day four (Wednesday, 14th December) results and stats:

Eastern Province U17 vs Northerns U17 in a 50-over match at Willowmoore Park, Benoni – Northerns U17 batted first and scored 303/8, Northerns won by 99 runs (EP U17 scored 204 all out). Top EP batsmen: Tristan Stubbs (48), David Rushmere (47) and Peter Jarvis (45). Top EP bowlers: Lelethu Cekiso (3/31) and Neo Pepeta (3/44).

Border U17 vs Border U17 in a 50-over match at Willowmoore Park, Benoni – Border U17 batted first and scored 245/7, Border won by 46 runs (Boland U17 scored 199 all out). Top Border batsmen: Dylan Deetlefs (94*) and Matt Dewar (47). Top Border bowlers: Matt Dewar (3/26) and Thando Ntini (3/33).

South Western Districts U17 vs North West U17 in a 50-over match at Avion Park Cricket Club, Kempton Park – NW U17 batted first and scored 108 all out, SWD U17 (112/7) won by three wickets. Top SWD batsmen: Travis Ackerman (39) and Xavier Tekana (21). Top SWD bowlers: Jean Bruiners (2/11), Travis Ackerman (2/14) and Ayabonga Antony (2/19).

Day five (Thursday, 15th December) results and stats:

South Western Districts U17 vs Boland U17 in a 50-over match at Christian Brothers College, Boksburg – SWD U17 batted first and scored 188/8, Boland U17 (191/3) won by seven wickets. Top SWD batsmen: Travis Ackerman (86) and Xavier Tekana (24). Top SWD bowlers: Ayabonga Antony (1/32) and Sintu Majeza (1/33).

Eastern Province U17 vs Kwazulu-Natal Inland U17 in a 50-over match at Willowmoore Park, Benoni– EP U17 batted first and scored 191 all out, EP won by 87 runs (KZN Inland scored 104 all out). Top EP batsmen: Peter Jarvis (63) and Sine Tsotse (40). Top EP bowlers: Neo Pepeta (2/13), Rodwill Baatjies (2/17) and Robert Quarmby (2/19).

Border U17 vs Northern Cape U17 in a 50-over match at Willowmoore Park, Benoni – NC U17 batted first and scored 131 all out, Border U17 (132/2) won by eight wickets. Top Border batsmen: Mathew Ferrant (61*) and Ty Maclean (31*). Top Border bowlers: Thando Ntini (3/30) and Luvo Ntsekwa (2/16).

In all, over all three formats of the game, each side played a total of six cricket matches, with Border U17 and EP U17 each winning three of their six games respectively.  SWD U17 won two of their six matches in the CSA U17 Cricket Week.
