British Airways adds two new daily flights to Port Elizabeth - OR Tambo Airport route

Following an announcment in September by the South African Airways (SAA) that it was cutting down the number of daily flights to the Eastern Cape as a cost-cutting measure, British Airways, which is operated by Comair, on Tuesday announced that it has added two daily flights between Port Elizabeth and OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.

SAA said its route reduction would be effective from 29 October.

Luane Lavery, Brand Communications Manager: British Airways (operated by Comair) says the new flights are due to increased passenger demand.

“BA6235 departs from OR Tambo International Airport at 13h15, landing at Port Elizabeth at 14h55. BA6240 departs Port Elizabeth at 15h35 and lands at ORTIA at 17h10. The flights operate each day except for Saturdays.

“These flights will include the signature British Airways premium service and offerings that will give travellers access to two premium cabins, excellent service and an opportunity to make use of the British Airways Executive Club frequent flyer programme.”

She adds, “We believe that the increased frequency of slights will support the economic and tourism growth in one of the most beautiful and economically important parts of our country. We are thrilled to be able to address the need for business and leisure customers, by making it easier to fly between Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth.”
