Buffalo City Metro closes King William's Town depot after COVID-19 case

King William's Town - Following advice that one of its Solid Waste Management employees tested positive for COVID-19, the Buffalo City Municipality said it decided to close the King William's Town Botanical Gardens Depot with immediate effect.

"As a precautionary measure, King William's Town Botanical Gardens Depot is temporarily closed until Thursday for deep cleansing and decontamination," the Metro said.

"Please note that refuse removal services will be disrupted in the following areas (Wednesday and Thursday)."

  • Wednesday - Berlin, Sweetwaters , Zwelitsha, Ginsberg, KWT & Schornville, Ginsberg and Dimbaza.
  • Thursday - KWT, Zwelitsha. Breidbach, Ginsberg and Dimbaza.

"The Municipality is aware that it’s essential services staff are in the frontline of offering services and every measures are being taken to ensure their safety," it added.

"We have issued all our staff with PPEs and have been regularly screened and assisting the Department of Health with testing our employees."
