Buffalo City Metro probing waste-dumping trucks in whistleblower footage

East London - The Buffalo City Metro on Sunday said that it is investigating two separate cases of alleged recklessness by waste dumping trucks.

"Both of these cases were captured on footage supplied by members of the community and took place during the week," the Metro said.

"The first case took place in Mdantsane and it involves two trucks seen dumping rubbish near a brick-making businesses on the route between zone 14 from zone 7 near the dam.

"These trucks had no signage but their registration plates have been supplied."

It said that the second incident involves a truck captured on footage disposing human waste in King Williams Town near Westbank.

"The truck is unmarked but it’s occupants are wearing Municipal gear," the Metro added.

"The two incidents are being followed up by the Municipal Departments concerned to check if they took place within Municipal Bylaw regulations and whether or not proper permissions were received. Further actions and consequences will be taken once all the information is received.

"We thank the members of the community for alerting authorities to such."
