Buffalo City Municipal aquarium being managed, some specimens released

East London - A group of Buffalo City Municipal aquarium staff are continuing to manage all aspects of the Aquarium on a daily basis during the lockdown period.

Part of this includes the release of some of the Aquarium specimens.

Acting Senior Manager Marine and Zoological Services, Siani Tinely explains: “We have taken a few local species of fish and invertebrates from the Aquarium display tanks that are from our local waters and released them into our Shark and Ray Tidal Pool.

"The idea is to free up the Aquarium staff to be able to focus on other exhibits while we work with less staff daily.”

She added; “We have also been releasing a few of our shy sharks. We have had them on display and they have been breeding well but seeing they are common and hardy specimens we have chosen to release them and recapture when the time is right.
