Butterworth police seek public's help in solving weekend murder

Butterworth police have appealed to the public for assistance with information that might assist them in solving a mystery murder case that occurred over the weekend.

"It is alleged that a 23-year-old man was seen arguing with an unknown man on Saturday, at about 14:30. Both men were along Scanlen Street, Butterworth," said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

"The deceased was next to his sedan car.

"The deceased was shot on his upper body.

"He was declared dead at the scene of crime."

Captain Manatha said that the motive for the murder is not yet known.

"The suspect disappeared after fatally shooting the deceased. No one has been arrested," he said.

"Butterworth Police are appealing to anyone, who may have witnessed the murder to contact them at 047 401 1100 or Crime Stop 08600 10111.

"The identity of the deceased is still being withheld until most of his family members are informed of his murder."
