Cameron: Isis act “pure evil”

British Prime Minister, David Cameron, has vowed that the UK “will hunt down” the Islamic State Militant (also known as Isis or Isil), after a video clip surfaced over the weekend showing the beheading of British aid worker, David Haines.

Haines is the third Westerner to be killed by Isis following the similar killings of US journalists, James Foley on August 19th, and Steven Sotloff on September 2nd.

“We will hunt down those responsible and bring them to justice no matter how long it takes,” Cameron said shortly after charging a meeting with the government’s emergency committee, Cobra, at Downing Street on Sunday.

“David Haines was an aid worker. He went into harm's way, not to harm people but to help his fellow human beings in the hour of their direst need, from the Balkans to the Middle East.

“The fact that an aid worker was taken, held and brutally murdered at the hands of Isil sums up what this organisation stands for,” Cameron said.

He also added, “They are killing and slaughtering thousands of people - Christians, Muslims, minorities across Iraq and Syria. They boast of their brutality. They claim to do this in the name of Islam. That is nonsense. Islam is a religion of peace. They are not Muslims, they are monsters”.

In the 2 minute 27 second video released on Saturday, Haines is showed kneeling down in a desert backdrop, dressed in an orange jumpsuit, next to the same Isis militant, dubbed Jihadi John, who is believed to have carried out the beheadings of Foley and Sotloff.

Reading from a pre-worded script, Haines introduces himself before holding Cameron responsible for his execution, saying “You entered voluntarily into a coalition with the United States against the Islamic State, just as your predecessor Tony Blair did, following a trend amongst our British prime ministers who can’t find the courage to say no to the Americans.”

“Unfortunately, it is we the British public that in the end will pay for the price for our parliament’s selfish decisions.”

Speaking with the same clear British accent as in the previous two killings, Jihadi John then directly address Cameron, saying “This British man has to pay the price for your promise, Cameron, to arm the Peshmerga against the Islamic State.

“Ironically, he has spent a decade of his life serving under the brutal air force that is responsible for delivering those arms.

“Your evil alliance with America, which continues to strike the Muslims of Iraq and most recently bombed the Haditha Dam, will only accelerate your destruction, and playing the role of the obedient lapdog, Cameron, will only drag you and your people into another bloody and unwinnable war.”

The video then shows the militia holding a knife to Haines’ neck before fading to an image of what is believed to be Haines’ body. The clip ends with the militia threating to kill a fourth victim, identified as British national, Alan Hemming, by saying, “If you, Cameron, persist in fighting the Islamic State, then you, like your master Obama, will have the blood of your people on your hands.”

US president, Barack Obama, has described Haines’ murder as “barbaric” before stating that, “We will work with the United Kingdom and a broad coalition of nations from the region and around the world to bring the perpetrators of this outrageous act to justice, and to degrade and destroy this threat to the people of our countries, the region and the world."
