Cash-in-transit robbery in Mt Frere, thugs flee with cash and firearms

Police in Mount Frere have launched a manhunt after a cash-in-transit robbery that occurred at a local hotel on Monday afternoon, at about 15h00.

"It is alleged that G4S came to collect the money from Frontier Hotel in Mount Frere main street.

"One of the security collected the bags from the shop and on his way out, five armed men just arrived and the security was shot in his chest and taken to hospital but not critically injured," said police spokesperson, Captain Edith Mjoko. 

"Five men took an undisclosed amount and fled the scene with two robbed firearms from the securities."

No arrest made yet.

"A case of business robbery has been opened."
