Celebrate International Star Wars Day!

Calling all Jedi of both the light and dark side! The day you have all been waiting for is here; it’s International Star Wars Day! May the 4th be with you!

This is one of the most anticipated days of the year for rebel scum and sith lords alike, as they celebrate their love for one of the most iconic and influential movie franchises in history.

The Star Wars franchise was launched back in 1977 with Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, and quickly became a worldwide phenomenon branching out to release books, a television series, video games and comics.

Star Wars Day is celebrated on the 4th of May every year worldwide, many fans take advantage of this day to binge the films or just their favourites and relive the wonder and excitement they felt when watching the movies for the first time.

Though for most Star Wars fans the films might invoke even more emotion due to the death of Carrie Fischer in December 2016 who played the much beloved Princess Leia.

For those not in the know, you might be wondering ‘Why the 4th of May?’ the answer is due to the humorous play on words from the film ‘May the Force be with you’, as many fans would say ‘May the 4th be with you’ during this day.

How can I celebrate?

For the avid Star Wars fan to the newbie who recently got into the films, there are many different things you can do to celebrate your love for Star Wars.

Head to your nearest comic book store and get a copy of a Star Wars for yourself, for those who don’t have access to comic book stores there are online sites where you can read them as well. Have a movie night with your friends or family members and watch all the Star Wars movies together, or just the original trilogy.

You could also have an impromptu Star Wars party by inviting your friends over, donning your favourite Star Wars shirt/outfit, have an array of space themed snacks and drinks that are ‘outta this world’, and watch all your favourite Star Wars moments and play some fun themed games together.

In truth it doesn’t matter how you choose to celebrate Star Wars Day, just have fun and enjoy the day!

May the 4th be with you!
